A Sundae Without Ice Cream

I’m the only income in my household. I can’t lose her but I can’t afford the treatment.

— Veronica —

A little scoop of heaven has been exactly what this Chihuahua named Sundae has been for her owner Veronica over the past 10 years. Raising 2 daughters alone, Veronica and Sundae have been not just pet and owner, but family and support for each other over the past decade.

When Sundae was diagnosed with pancreatic issues requiring monitoring and care, Veronica knew she needed to do whatever it would take for Sundae to receive the care needed to be healthy and well. With carefully budgeted finances stretched tight on one income, Veronica reached out to Max’s Helping Paws and applied for financial assistance when the estimate for her ‘fur baby’ ranged between $1,200 – $1,600. As a responsible pet owner, Veronica was able to provide some of the cost for Sundae’s care, but more was needed. Fortunately, thanks to The Doris Day Foundation, assistance was on the way from Max’s Helping Paws!

With the combined finances of owner and Max’s, Sundae was able to receive the fluids, diagnostics and medications needed to begin a long term recovery of healing. Veronica and her children once again have their sweet family member Sundae back home with them.
