Bemo has only been with us a short time but we love him so much!
— Rochelle —
When Rochelle and Jonathan brought home 4 week old Bemo to join their family, they had no idea how adventurous and fearless he was! This playful Chihuahua was a gift from a friend of their children and the whole family was delighted with their new family member.
While trying to jump on a couch much too large for his 3 month old self, Bemo fell and broke his leg. The family immediately brought Bemo to the Pet Specialists of Monterey and began the process of getting Bemo treatment. Unfortunately, Bemo had broken his leg so severely that the only way to save his life was to amputate his leg. When Rochelle and Jonathan first got Bemo, they had applied for pet insurance and were told it would take a month to process the application. When Bemo got injured only 2 days before the month waiting period, the insurance denied the claim. Unsure what to do next but realizing Bemo’s life could be in jeopardy unless the amputation happened, Rochelle and Jonathan came to Max’s Helping Paws for assistance.
With the loving support of the family and outstanding medical care, made possible with the assistance of Max’s Helping Paws, Bemo received the treatment needed. He is now adjusting to his amputation and relearning how to navigate the spaces at his home. Even with the challenge ahead, Bemo’s heart is filled with love for his family and he constantly shows this with many face licks and wiggles.
