Your help gave him the chance at a comfortable life again!I lost almost all of my work due to COVID and didn’t have any money to help Rocky get the help he needed.

Hot dog anyone? Wait! That’s not a hot dog, that’s just lovable Rocky dressed up and ready to spread smiles with his family on Halloween. This amiable pooch named Rocky just adores his family, even if he doesn’t understand why they dress him up sometimes! Linda and her spouse received Rocky from a friend 2 years ago and he has been an integral part of their family ever since. With 3 other pet companions at home, their house is full of energy and love each day.
Being a young pup at only 2 years old, Linda was surprised when Rocky began developing a bump on his chest. As a responsible owner, she kept a very close eye on the spot for any growth or changes. In early December, Linda was dismayed to see that Rocky seemed to be sensitive and in pain if the mass was touched. She wanted him to see a veterinarian immediately but was overwhelmed with the thought of the cost for diagnostics on the mass. Linda and her husband are both retired seniors who live on a very restricted income, while now also helping support their daughter who had recently lost her job due to COVID-19. With finances so tight for the family, Linda realized outside help would be needed to ensure Rocky received the diagnostic testing for the mass on his chest. She reached out to Max’s Helping Paws and shared, “Rocky is a part of our family. We love him so much and don’t want to see him suffer. Anything you can do would help so much!”
At Max’s, we understand that even during normal circumstances it can be daunting to face unexpected costs for our beloved pet. With such a challenging year as 2020, we realize even more how difficult it can be to provide the care our companions need. Thanks to our generous community partners, we were able to extend financial assistance for Rocky to receive the diagnostic tests he needed. It turns out his mass had become infected, and with the help of medications and cytology tests to determine non-cancerous material, Rocky was able to remain with his family and recover from his infection. Thankfully, he is once again happy and healthy with his beloved family – we can’t wait to see what he dresses up like for next Halloween!
