Smooth Jaz

Nobody ever expects their beloved family pet to have an accident. Andrea was shocked and horrified when her beautiful family dog Jaz was hit by a car. Even with her heart breaking, Andrea responded quickly and took Jaz immediately to the Pet Specialists of Monterey for care. With expertise and kind heartedness, PSM was able to quickly ascertain Jaz had fractures in both her pelvic areas as well as her iliac crest bone. Fast work was needed for Jaz and an emergency surgery was needed. Andrea knew without a doubt that the surgery was needed, but along with feeling overwhelmed by the event itself, she was highly concerned about the cost of the surgery and her beloved Jaz’s health.

5 years ago Andrea had gotten Jaz from the City of Salinas Animal Services, and she knew she needed to do whatever it took to make sure Jaz received care. Experiencing a loss of income due to COVID-19, Andrea was already stretched tight financially. With a recommendation from the Pet Specialists, Andrea got in touch with Max’s Helping Paws and submitted a grant application for financial assistance to make sure Jaz had every opportunity possible, including surgery if that was needed.

While Jaz was able to receive treatment, we can never fully predict the outcome of a companion’s tale. Jaz was a brave pup whose time it was to cross over the Rainbow Bridge. Thanks to the financial support from Max’s, which provided the opportunity for Jaz to have her very best chance, Andrea – while heart broken – was able to feel peaceful about the passing of her pup. Our hearts and thoughts are with you Jaz as you cross that Rainbow Bridge.
