Titan is my anxiety pet and I just want him to feel better.
— Lorena —
Teeny tiny Titan the Yorkshire Terrier is small…but mighty! Which is why when his owner Lorena realized Titan had a kidney and bladder infection that was impacting his ability to urinate, she knew he would be able to win the fight against the infection if he was given the chance. The choice for treatment became a life-or-death situation when Lorena was told without treatment,Titan would die due to high levels of potassium, proteins and overall infection in his body.
Titan is not just a pet to Lorena, but “…he is my anxiety companion and helps me keep calm.” This mighty companion has been living up to his name by being the emotional support Lorena has needed during the past year. As a student working while in school, finances are tight with Lorena and she does an excellent job of managing on a day-to-day basis. However, with the ongoing treatments Titan needed for his infections, the cost of care was rapidly adding up. Lorena had already paid almost $5,000 toward treatment when she reached out to Max’s Helping Paws for support in saving Titan’s life.
Knowing the critical nature of what it would mean if Titan did not receive care, Max’s was able to extend assistance to bridge the financial gap for treatments needed. Thanks to funding support from AWAG and The Doris Day Foundation, Max’s was able to once again be the lifeline for treatment which made the difference between life or death for Titan. It is through these partnerships and community donors that life-saving story’s such as Titan’s are possible. This mighty pup has many years left now to not just be a ‘pet’, but continue as a comfort companion for his owner Lorena.
