This Little ‘Rock’

With both of us losing our jobs this year, we didn’t know what else to do.

— Fuller Family —

With a name like Rocky, this tiny ball of energy has a lot to live up to! This Yorkshire Terrier named Rocky joined the Fuller family 5 years ago as a small puppy, and has stayed small! This family of 3 has experienced their share of challenges during 2020, with both adults losing their jobs due to COVID-19. While Rocky has been enjoying the extra family walk time, this has certainly caused some hardships as the family has navigated what their next steps will be.

While out on one of their family walks to keep healthy, the family was surprised and shocked when a larger dog came over and attacked Rocky. While his name may imply it, this pup is no fighter! Scared and overwhelmed, the Fuller’s rushed Rocky to the emergency veterinarian clinic, where they spent over $3,000 on his initial care to save his life. They shared, “We had put all of our money into a savings to move, which was a little over $3,000. We had to use all of this money for the ER visit to save Rocky.”

Once he was stabilized, surgery was going to be needed to repair the damage done by the other dog. The Fuller’s wanted Rocky to receive this surgery but had reached a financial breaking point with what means they had. Not sure where else to go, they reached out to Max’s Helping Paws for assistance with the surgery. Thanks to our donors and partners such as The Doris Day Foundation, we were able to bridge the financial gap for Rocky and he received the surgery he needed to live. Thank you to our supporters for saving this pup’s life!
