Sometimes, the story as told by a grateful pet owner is the best story to tell!
You are truly and Angel to me, my kids, Nemo, our entire family!!!
I want to start off by giving you the biggest hug ever, but since I can’t do that I want to let you know what you have given back to us.
We found Nemo on Craigslist over 7 years ago.
He was only 4 weeks old and fit in the palm of my hand. He was, and still is, the greatest blessing to our family. With his black and white coat and “pig” spotted belly, it was love at first sight for all of us.
Nemo was the runt of the litter( we were told by the owners). He was just sooooo tiny, and followed me around from day one as if I was his mother. He fit right into our family.
I would have to say that Nemos favorite place to be is in the ocean or any body of water! You guessed it, that’s why we named him Nemo.
Just like my family, Nemo loves to boogie board with us, tide pool(not the most graceful at this), snorkel and just goof around at Carmel Beach. He loves to fetch a stick through the crashing waves and has really learned how to read the waves and negotiate them. He won’t fetch any stick, it has to be a large branch!
Nemo’s injuries started to appear over 8 month ago and he hasn’t been able to do any of these activities. We didn’t want to do them without him, it just isn’t the same or very fun without our pup there along side us.
His condition was so bad that some days he just didn’t want to get up and the pain and sadness in his face was more than I could stand.
His condition was so bad that some days he just didn’t want to get up and the pain and sadness in his face was more than I could stand. As the bad days became more frequent, and my not having the funds to help Nemo, even after several attempts to fundraise, I had a talk with my daughters about putting him down if and when his condition got to that point.
That talk just destroyed them and me.
A few days later, I was shopping at Safeway when I fell to the floor crying. Everyone came over to me to ask if I was ok.
I was way more than ok!
I had just received the call from Max’s Helping Paws!
At first I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing (my eyes are welling up as I write this)!
I didn’t know what to say.
I was just crying and crying and crying…happy tears!! I couldn’t wait to get back home and give my kids the news!! So, I didn’t. I sat there on the floor and called my daughters.
When I got home we just hugged Nemo for hours. He must have thought we were crazy the way we were acting. He’s never allowed on the furniture but that day he sat on the couch with us celebrating!
We even gave him Martinelli’s to celebrate!
I really don’t know how to thank you other than to just say “THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!” for your generosity, thoughtfulness, caring and your kind heart.
I am going to make it my mission to continue to try to raise funds for Max’s Helping Paws so that maybe one day we can pay it forward.
Nemo is almost through recovery and is doing amazingly well and we’re following the Dr’s strict recovery rules. He’s even tried to chase the cat, but with us on 24hr watch, he thought twice.
His perky face is back as are his happy eyes. He won’t stop kissing us and rolls over for belly rubs again.
Now he’s itch’n to get get back to the beach. Every time we put the leash on he thinks he’s going! Its so great to see him feeling good again, happy and tail wagging!!
Life just wouldn’t be there same with our Nemo and thanks to you, we have OUR NEMO BACK!!!!!
God bless you!!!
