We want Sly to be comfortable.
Sometimes the gift that keeps on giving is one with 4 furry legs and a tail! That has been the case when Jason received a small tabby kitten 7 years ago from a neighbor who could no longer care for the animal. Quickly adapted into Jason’s family with his girlfriend and their dog, Sly became a key member of the family. In late June, Jason was alerted to a change in Sly’s breathing, the breaths had become labored and strained. Keeping a close eye on Sly to determine if this was a passing occurrence or a condition, Jason was attentive to any changes. After observing Sly for a few days, it became clear to Jason that a visit to their veterinarian for Sly was needed.
At the visit, it was determined that heart failure and possible fluid in the lungs were what was causing Sly’s discomfort and labored breathing. Doing their very best for Sly, Jason told us, “We paid a deposit of $840 for diagnostics. They gave a quote of around $1200-1500 for more treatment and more tests. He needs an Echocardiogram to see if we can manage his condition with medication, he did improve overnight with Lasix treatment. Also, my girlfriend was furloughed for the last three months due to COVID-19. Any help would be appreciated.”
Jason was determined to get the best help for Sly possible and knew that more diagnostics would decide the next steps to take. With the barrier of financial resources being taken down by Max’s Helping Paws, Sly has been able to receive the diagnostic tests needed for his best health possible.
