She is the one I talk to, I laugh with, study next to on the floor, and my “co-pilot” in life. Please help us..
— Melinda —
Gidget is an 8-year old Chihuahua Mix found wandering the streets many years ago in South Central Los Angeles by her mom, Melinda, a tutor with CSUMB. Melinda reached out to Max’s so upset and afraid for her pup. She wrote, ” For the last 3 days Gidget is not able to stand alone on all four legs and also she is unable to walk. She began limping (not bearing weight in her left leg) and I brought her into Pet Specialists of Monterey and they said she has what is known as bilateral (both hind legs) patellar luxation “floating knee caps”, a structural issue found and most likely born with.
Dr. Dearmin said he recommended a procedure called Bilateral Lateral Fabellar and could give Gidget the ability to stand, walk and function normally. I am a full time student at CSUMB I want to become an elementary teacher and I tutor part time. Gidget is my emotional support animal. I was diagnosed with PTSD from when my daughter had a bone marrow transplant–I was her care provider and went through everything with her.”
Melinda is a phenomenal pet mom, and we were THRILLED to be able to help make the surgery happen for Gidget. Melinda wrote us just yesterday to tell us that “Gidget is SMILING again!” YAY!!
