No ‘Fat Boy’ Here

I don’t get paid until Wednesday and all that money goes to bills, I need help for Fat Boy, he’s my family.

— Harlie —

Who would have thoughts this tiny pup would end up with a clever name like Fat Boy? While fat he is not, he certainly has been a bright spot in his owner Harlie’s life the past 8 years. Sometimes, the best gifts come in the small packages, and Fat Boy has been such a gift to Harlie all these years.

As a watchful owner, Harlie noticed right away when Fat Boy started to stumble and began vomitting one night in January. Concerned for her best friend, she rushed him to the veterinarian and reached out to Max’s Helping Paws at the same time. While Harlie was able to pay for a minimum of care, she knew she wouldn’t be able to afford any diagnostic testing if Fat Boy needed it. She shared her hardships over the past year with us and her desire to do whatever she needed to make sure her baby got the care he needed. Recognizing the need for this pup in crisis, Max’s was able to extend the assistance needed for Fat Boy to receive his diagnostics and medication for his upset tummy.

So often, our beloved companions aren’t able to tell us exactly what is wrong with them, but owners such as Harlie keep such a close eye out for their friends, that they recognize distress when they see it. Thank you Harlie for being such an excellent dog ‘momma’ and taking care of your boy. It is thanks to our donors and partner organizations Max’s was able to extend the assistance needed for this ‘Fat Boy’ to return home and healthy with his momma.
