Determining the Troubles

Lucy is a part of our family.

— Jessica —

12 years ago, Jessica and her family had the honor of witnessing the miracle of birth as little Lucy was born into a litter of kittens on their farm. With space to roam, other animals to interact with and a loving family, Lucy has had an outstanding life with Jessica.

As Lucy has progressed into her Golden Years, this year it became more evident that some health concerns may be arising. As a responsible owner, Jessica noticed when it became evident that “one of Lucy’s ears appears infected and she seems to be having respiratory issues.” Jessica’s stress over Lucy’s health was multiplied with the thoughts of veterinary bills which may be associated with the care needed. Due to COVID-19, Jessica had been laid off from both of her jobs and was trying her best to manage the current bills and stay positive during an unprecedented year.

Hearing from a friend about Max’s Chestnuts Fund, which offers financial support to pet owners specifically impacted by COVID-19 financial loss, Jessica applied for assistance through our online application process. With the assistance of The Doris Day Foundation and the Chestnut’s Fund at Max’s, Lucy was able to receive the diagnostic testing she needed to determine what the next steps in care would be. With the diagnostics, Lucy will be able to obtain the care she needs to continue her Golden Years with Jessica and her loving family.
