Emma Has Hope

She will be able to recover and be part of our family for a long time to come.

— Matthew —

When our beloved pets hurt, we hurt. Owner Matthew felt his heart strings pulled when his 9 year old Anatolian Shepherd, Emma, began experiencing problems effecting her liver. As a responsible pet owner, he took Emma to the Pet Specialists of Monterey and began getting her the diagnostics and treatments needed for her health. As time progresses, the ongoing nature of the treatment began to become quite expensive, and Matthew reached out to Max’s Helping Paws.

“Emma wants to live and her blood tests are looking better and better. She is allowing us to hand feed her in visits to the hospital. But she needs more time for her liver to recover. After 60 hours treatment, we have reached the end of our budget, and we will need to bring her home to give her the best care we can, or, if necessary, in-home euthanasia.”

Facing this heart-tugging decision of possible euthanasia with lack of treatment, Max’s Helping Paws was able to collaborate with Matthew and the Pet Specialists of Monterey in order for Emma to continue receiving the liver treatments and diagnostics for her recovery.

The latest update on Emma’s recovery: “Emma looked really improved and happy this morning and she won’t eat for the doctors but she will eat for us if we hand-feed her and she is keeping her food down. She just needs a little more time for her liver to regenerate, and she will be able to recover and be part of our family for a long time to come.”
