Jiggly Jack

I want to be able to provide Jack with the same level of care that he has received for the duration of his life.

— Maria —

This 13 year old kitty named Jack has been a companion to Maria almost his entire life. Maria lovingly describes him as a “lifelong fatty with other non-fat cats in the home.” Being a responsible pet owner, Maria was concerned when Jack began displaying signs of distress. She took him right away to the VCA All Pets where Jack was diagnosed with diabetes. This new prognosis presented a financial burden of continued veterinarian care for Jack, and Maria reached out to Max’s Helping Paws. She shared with us, “I am applying for assistance because I am currently on a fixed income through SSDI and am unable to cover the cost of additional medical visits, supplies, medications, and prescription foods.”

“I have had Jack for almost the entirety of his life; my roommates brought him and his brother home before deciding that they did not like cats. I decided to keep them for myself and Jack’s brother, Goober, was put to rest this past October from bone cancer. I have done the best I can to make these cats as comfortable as possible, providing special food for them when Goober was diagnosed with urine crystals. I want to be able to provide Jack with the same level of care that he has received for the duration of his life and in doing so, will hopefully continue to maintain a quality of life that has made him the fat and happy cat that he is.”

Maria applied for, and thank you to funds received by DDAF, we were able to grant extended-care assistance as part of our Continued Care program to help pay for Jack’s diabetes treatments. This support will allow him to have a special diet, blood work and consistent care to ensure a quality of life where Jack can indeed remain the companion that Maria so dearly loves.
