We would love to give Thor the help he needs from this major injury.
— Steelman Family —
What cat wouldn’t love living on a farmstead with space to roam and a family to love him? Thor joined his family 3 1/2 years ago as a kitten born into a life of freedom and exploring on their family farm. Since that time, Thor has enjoyed spending time between the family of 4 and the other animals on the property.
When the wildfires hit in August, the family was incredibly distressed when Thor disappeared. They searched everywhere but were unable to find him for several weeks. It was a heartfelt moment when Thor returned home to them after being gone for 3 weeks, yet also an anxious moment when they realized Thor had returned home injured. While he was away from home, Thor must have been in a fight with another animal and his back leg had a major wound with considerable bleeding.
They quickly took Thor to the Pet Specialists of Monterey for treatment and learned Thor would need stiches to repair the damage done in the fight. Not only had the Steelman’s been impacted by the fires, but they have also been experiencing a loss of employment due to the pandemic this year. Uncertain how they would pay for the treatment needed for Thor, but knowing their family companion needed assistance, the Steelman’s reached out to Max’s Helping Paws. Through the Chestnut’s Crisis Fund, the family qualified for aid in order for Thor to receive the needed stiches and medicines he needed to recover.
