Mika’s Miracle

Mika’s all I have, I can’t lose her.

— Katelyn —

As someone recently experiencing homelessness, Katelyn and her faithful companion Mika have been a constant support for each other during this extremely challenging year. Mika wandered into Katelyn’s life 3 years ago as a little bundle of fluff that has brought a massive sense of love to Katelyn’s world. The two are an emotional support system for each other and have bonded as only a beloved companion and family member can.

In October, Katelyn began to notice Mika getting sick and vomitting consistently. Concerned, but having limited funds to get Mika the help she needed, Katelyn reached out to Max’s Helping Paws. She shared with us she was in the process of trying to move to Utah to gain the support she needed to take care of herself and Mika, when Mika became suddenly ill. Being a responsible pet owner, she took immediate steps needed for Mika when she reached out to Max’s.

Thanks to the support of donors and partners such as The Doris Day Foundation and AWAG, Max’s was able to offer funding through our Diagnostics program. Often, when this first step of diagnostics is taken, it can prevent larger problems from occurring by starting treatments right away. Once the treatments were provided, Mika was on her road to healing. Several weeks later, thanks to Katelyn’s quick response and the assistance of The Pet Specialists of Monetery, Kately gratefully shared, “Mika is doing amazing and is as happy and playful as ever! We want to thank you for the help for her recovery? I recently started a new job and we are busy and happy, thank you for helping during this difficult time.”
