She’s my baby and I just want to do whatever I can to make her feel better.
— Megan —
Not many owners get the privilege of being present when their companions are born, but Megan had that honor 11 years ago when her family’s dog produced a litter of pups. Right away, Megan knew that little Lady was special and chose to keep her as her own special companion. With just Megan and Lady in the household, these two have bonded as close as any family can get over the past 11 years.
Only a month after Lady’s routine veterinarian visit, Megan noticed Lady’s tummy was extended and seemed sore to the touch. With only the best intentions of ensuring the health of Lady, she rushed Lady to the Pet Specialists of Monterey for treatment. Some of the first items to rule out were liver failure or cancer, and the diagnostics were going to be considerably more than Megan had available financially.
After getting laid off from work due to COVID-19, Megan has been doing her very best to keep afloat and provide safety, security and necessities for herself and Lady. Megan was able to find and pay more than $1000 for Lady’s care, however, additional diagnostics were going to be needed to determine the next steps in care for Lady. With the unexpected cost of the diagnostics looming, Megan reached out to Max’s Helping Paws and applied for a grant to obtain assistance with Lady’s treatment. With careful review of the needed treatment and application, Max’s was able to lend a ‘paw’ in supporting Lady’s care. Thankfully, Megan now has her “baby” at home safe and sound once again.
