Tooth Troubles For Baxter

We’re a family of 3, my dogs and I.

— Michael —

As a retired Veteran, Michael has become the proud dog-dad of 2 precious pups – a 15 year old Yorkie and his adorable rat terrier ‘brother’ Baxter. The 3 of these companions moved to the area recently and have been enjoying learning the new space since then.

When Baxter began not eating, losing weight and showed signs of being in pain, Michael was quick to pay attention to what was happening and noticed a tooth appeared to be broken in Baxter’s mouth. Knowing the next steps would be to seek veterinary care, yet knowing he is on a fixed income budget, Michael reached out to Max’s Helping Paws for support.

Working together with VCA All Pets as the treating veterinarian, it was determined Baxter had an abscessed tooth which would need to be removed. We all know what tooth pain feels like – and what a relief it is to have it taken care of! Once the tooth was successfully removed, Baxter was able to recover at home, where he began once again eat with no pain and enjoy his time with his ‘dad and brother’ at home. Nothing like a healed tooth to increase the appetite and weight again!

We have much gratitude for our supporters, and especially partners such as The Doris Day Foundation, who allow success stories such as Baxter’s to continue becoming a reality. Thank you!
