Hello Humans!

Buddy is just a big happy boy!

— Julie —

One of the additional benefits of having a beloved companion pet, is the serenity and joy they can bring to our lives. Julie received Buddy about a year ago and he has been an emotional support companion as well as a playful pup in her world over the past year. Watching this happy pup grow and share his love has certainly been a bright spot in Julie’s life.

In a moment of rambunctious energy, Buddy accidentally stepped through a glass window door and received a dangerous cut on his leg. In distress yet acting immediately, Julie took Buddy to The Pet Specialists of Monterey for emergency care. When she discovered the estimate of treatment was going to be a little over $1,000, Julie reached out to Max’s Helping Paws. She shared that she was on disability with a fixed income, supporting herself fully yet with limited means. While Julie realized the treatment was a must for Buddy, her financial situation was limited in the ability to cover the expense. She shared, “Buddy is just a big happy boy. He’s my world, I’m disabled and suffer from a mental condition and he helps me stay level and not be a wreck.”

As an organization focused on being the financial lifeline for pets in crisis situations, Max’s Helping Paws knew this was such a case. Thanks to the support of our partner organizations such as AWAG, Max’s was able to provide the financial support for Buddy to get his leg stitched up and return home with Julie where he could rest and heal.
