PEACE OF MIND DOG RESCUE NOW ADMINISTERS MAX'S HELPING PAWS PROGRAMS
As of June 1 2025, POMDR has merged Max’s veterinary financial assistance programs for pets in a health crisis into its Helping Paw program to cover major medical expenses — including diagnostics, short term and critical care and long-term chronic care. Through creation of the restricted Max's Helping Paws Fund within its long-standing Helping Paw program, this fund is independent from other POMDR programs, ensuring that all donations go directly toward the mission, and can continue to grow and remain accessible to those who need it most.

Why Is This Happening?
This transition is the result of thoughtful planning and reflects a shared commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability of this critical mission within our community. At the time of the transfer, Max’s will have proudly assisted nearly 2500 pets and their families, and paid over $1.5 million to local veterinary practices in delivery of our mission. Now, with the responsibility of continuity for pets and their families, we’ve made the strategic decision to step back as an independent organization and entrust our programs and mission to a deeply aligned and synergistic nonprofit with the resources and infrastructure to support ever-increasing need. We’ve collaborated with the POMDR team for years, jointly assisting as many as 50% of our applicants. As a leading, long-standing local animal welfare nonprofit with a Veterinary Financial assistance program that mirrors our own in mission and values, POMDR is uniquely positioned to carry forward and expand the legacy of Max’s Helping Paws
